"When I was young, I was so passionate about organising events and parties and cooking for friends and family. I found that this was something that made them happy. This is why I chose to study Hotel/Hospitality Management.
9 months before completing my degree, I was recruited by Metropark Hotel Kowloon as Director of Sales. In 2005 I was promoted to Director of Operations then Resident Manager/Acting General Manager in 2006. One year later I was promoted to the General Manager position where I have been working ever since.
Under the supervision of a César Ritz Colleges’ professor I learned about the importance of revenue management. Later in my career I was able to apply the knowledge I learned from class and improve the revenue for the hotel through cooperation with major online travel portals and booking engines.
A highlight of my career was because of the skills I gained as Alumni Association Chapter President and the César Ritz Colleges internship programme matched with my performance within the hotel corporation, I was awarded as one of the top 5 General Managers out of 50 in 2013.
I would advise a student interested in studying hospitality to take the time to experience hotel/hospitality services to understand the general operation of the different departments. Additionally, brush up on language skills, especially English.
