"I was 17 years old when I moved to Le Bouveret to attend César Ritz Colleges, so I relied on my interests and passion to take this decision and study hospitality management. As a child, I travelled a lot with my family and I loved to be in different places with different cultures and languages. I also love cooking and everything related to food and fresh ingredients. That's why I felt that the Food & Beverage department would suit me perfectly and went for it.
Due to the size of the college, it was easy to connect with professors and school coordinators. Doing so many group projects and learning how to work together as a team with students from different countries was also a great lesson for the future. César Ritz Colleges enjoys a great reputation worldwide and offers impeccable career fairs. That's how I managed to get a job with Hilton in Florida for a year and started my journey.
I moved to Canada in 2012 and got another degree in Human Resources management and have been working in Vancouver in Events Management since then. We offer banquet facilities, which focus on catering to events for up to 500 guests. I am responsible for planning, managing and executing events as well as ensuring that deadlines and budgets are adhered to. I also liaise with marketing and PR colleagues in order to promote specific events when needed.
My greatest achievement so far is actually being where I am now, living and working in Vancouver. This country has it all in terms of adventure tourism, food and beverage and great hospitality. I feel that it is the perfect city to open up my own business in the future.
Hospitality opens up a lot of different routes for your career and gives you a diversity of choices worldwide. Be flexible, ambitious and enjoy the ride! If it is your passion, you will go far, no matter what."
