"I graduated from a hotel management high school in Italy, so I knew a lot about the industry that I wanted to be in. I knew that I was on a steep learning curve and that I would be able to travel and see the world.
Seen the world, I definitely have! I have built much of my career on cruise ships, from junior assistant food and beverage manager to my current role. I love the working environment of my chosen career path and the fact that I am in touch with people who come from a variety of different cultures.
I am proud of what I have achieved, reaching the positions of Director of Services, First Purser on board cruise vessels and F&B Manager in luxury resorts, land based. My career highlights, thus far, have been the implementation of a new enterprise resource planning software for the two biggest Italian and European Cruise companies: Costa Cruises and MSC Cruises. At MSC Cruises I also introduced a new position fleet-wide: the Inventory Manager, for which I also wrote the operational manual and procedures.
By the time that I arrived at César Ritz Colleges, I already had quite a lot of experience in the industry and through my studies at Postgraduate and Masters level, I really learned great analytical skills. An important skill for me to be able to achieve my professional objective to work as a financial analyzer of investments in the hotel sector.
I have three pieces of advice for students who are studying hospitality. Firstly, be ready to relocate, this is an international industry where the best opportunity for you may be somewhere else in the world. Secondly, always target the best hospitality companies and finally, focus all of your energy on one professional target at a time.
The professional philosophy that I follow in my career is, to do it right the first time, keep a win-win mentality within your team and to keep learning new things every day!"
