"I chose to study hospitality management because I wanted to broaden my knowledge, back up my work experience and make interesting contacts with likeminded people from all over the world.
I've worked in various countries and positions, starting as Catering Service Coordinator at the Intercontinental Hotel Berlin to Restaurant Manager at the Copthorne Millenium Hotel, Convention & Catering Manager and Assistant Director of Food & Beverage at the Grand Hyatt Berlin, Grand Hyatt Beijing, Director of Food & Beverage at the Park Hyatt Tokyo and finally Executive Assistant Manager at the Park Hyatt Zurich.
I then became General Manager with the Hyatt Hotels Corporation: starting at the Andaz Wall Street up to my current position as General Manager of the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht.
In this current role, I am responsible for the management of a 122 room full service luxury hotel in the heart of Amsterdam. This position has been one of the highlights of my career as I was part of the opening process of this true lifestyle hotel with a great design located in a fantastic city.
I love this job as it allows me to be in ontact with people and gives me the chance to learn about other cultures; and most of all, I like to create memorable experiences.
At César Ritz Colleges Switzerland, I learned analytical thinking and how to embrace different viewpoints. Furthermore, I found the group work very important as in this industry, we are working with people, for people.
Be open-minded about your choices after your studies, don't be afraid to start at the lower levels and work your way up. Experience, paired with your studies will enable you to become a great, well-rounded and experienced leader that people want to follow."
