"I guess I chose to study hospitality management because of my passion for it, and my determination. I always had a thing for tourism and was always searching for diversity in a multicultural environment, which César Ritz Colleges Switzerland offered already through its academic and student body.
My first internship was done at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace as housekeeping supervisor trainee, where I did room inspections, department closedown, attendant scheduling and supervision as well as coordination with the front office department. I stayed on the shores of the Lac Léman in Montreux for my second internship, at the Hotel Helvetie where I performed various duties at the reception and the reservations department.
Upon graduation, I moved to Africa and did a management training in marketing and e-commerce management at the Djibouti Palace Kempinski hotel.
I eventually moved back to Switzerland and am now assistant reservations manager at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, where it all started. I take care of online distribution, rates and availability, rate parity, electronic confirmations and pre-arrival emails. I work closely with the Sales and Marketing team to ensure a smooth relationship with partners, tour operators and travel agents. My responsibilities also include producing reports and analysis for the reservations and revenue manager.
The skills that I acquired at school and that help me most are excellency and professionalism. I am grateful every day for what I have achieved so far and it is a wonderful feeling.
