"After working in the hotel industry for over 16 years, I am now working in one of the top local online travel companies (MATEI) in Korea as the Director of Sales & Marketing. I am responsible for the local Korean Market Sales Team, Overseas Sales Team, Strategy Marketing Team, PR, Reservation and the Operations Team.
I was originally inspired to study hospitality because of a relative that worked in the industry. I made the decision to study abroad to learn to become a capable hotelier and to study culinary arts which has a strong basis in Europe.
My international education helps me better understand the diverse culture between my colleagues and to understand and serve guests’ needs in the hospitality industry based on my knowledge of different customs, culture and food across the world.
The hotel industry in Korea requires a very high academic ability due to high competition across the industry. Swiss educated graduates are recognised as having a high qualification and good knowledge, service oriented, strong skills and language capacities. The reputation of Swiss Hotel Schools in Korea is very good.
My advice to future students is to try and imagine your future life working in hospitality and what your desired position is. It could be General Manager, Director of Sales & Marketing, Food & Beverage Manager, Chef or Front Manager. But whatever it is, it is important to clearly identify the goals and details that go along with it in order to make your dream come true.
Professional philosophy: Innovation, passion & initiative"
