Term 1 (11 weeks)

  • Business Research Methods
    • This module is designed to provide students with the knowledge and an understanding to conduct research projects. It will address ethical considerations to be taken, discuss the appropriateness of various methods of data collection, and introduce the students to means of quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The teaching and learning strategies will include lectures, seminars and tutorials, with the use of case study material to illustrate the practical application of research methods in the context of the hospitality and tourism industries.
  • Hospitality Industry Operations & Trends
    • This module is designed to provide students with the concepts and tools necessary to manage a hospitality operation effectively while analysing trends in a challenging global environment. The course is also designed to provide entrepreneurially inclined students with the foundation to open their own hospitality business.
  • Corporate Finance & Managerial Decision Making
    • This module is designed to improve students’ critical thinking skills relative to hospitality financial management, at corporate level and assist students to understand, analyse, and take decisions about financial information obtained from firm financial statements and the global market place.
  • Corporate Wellbeing and Managing Positive Employee Experience
    • This module is designed to provide students with the knowledge and an understanding to conduct research projects. It will address ethical considerations to be taken, discuss the appropriateness of various methods of data collection, and introduce the students to means of quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The teaching and learning strategies will include lectures, seminars and tutorials, with the use of case study material to illustrate the practical application of research methods in the context of the hospitality and tourism industries.
  • Nutrition, Health & Lifestyle
    • This module is designed to provide students with the knowledge and understanding to work towards a healthier and more sustainable solution and better life choices. The concepts will be discussed in the context of guest management, employee management and will motivate students towards personal growth and change.
  • Language 1: French / German
    • This module is designed to introduce students to reading, writing and speaking, largely in preparation for Internship. The goal of these courses is to develop a strong foundation for language study skills, and cultural understanding. Activities are centred on the skills of speaking, listening comprehension, reading comprehension, and writing.

Term 2 (11 weeks)

  • Development and Management for Wellness Resorts and Healthcare Facilities
    • This module is designed to provide students with the knowledge and an understanding to develop and manage wellness and healthcare facilities. With the growing elderly population, combination of hospitality, wellbeing and healthcare no doubt is in demand and offers tremendous job opportunities around the globe.
  • Brand Development and Marketing for International Wellbeing and Healthcare Services
    • This module is designed to provide students with the knowledge and understanding about what it takes to create a brand and all the necessary marketing strategies to maintain a healthy and growing business in international wellbeing and healthcare services. Real Case studies will allow the students work on their own potential business ideas if they wish to become future entrepreneurs in the hospitality and tourism industry.
  • Wellbeing: Managing the Guest Experience
    • This module is designed to give in-depth information about the changing needs of the guests in the hospitality industry. Rethinking the entire guest experience and creating healthier and encouraging environment for better choices and a healthier lifestyle will be at the core of this exciting module.
  • Wellness Tourism / Wellness Culinary Tourism
    • This module is designed to examine the development and promotion of wellness tourism and wellness culinary tourism to contribute to the economical growth of the industry as more and more guests chose to travel for recreational and culinary reasons.
  • Management of Healthier Food and Beverage Experience
    • This module is designed to allow students experience the challenges in management of healthier F&B experience by combining theoretical and practical approaches.
  • Language 2: French / German
    • This module is designed to introduce students to reading, writing and speaking, largely in preparation for Internship. The goal of these courses is to develop a strong foundation for language study skills, and cultural understanding. Activities are centred on the skills of speaking, listening comprehension, reading comprehension, and writing.

Internship (4-6 months)

  • Practical Experience
    • Worldwide internship (local conditions apply) or paid in Switzerland in the hospitality industry

      Minimum monthly gross salary in Switzerland: CHF 2,172.‒

Independent Study

  • Consultancy Project/ Industry Project /Health Coaching Practicum: a Case Study Report / Dissertation
    • This module is designed to allow students to conduct research and produce a business plan for tourism or hospitality related business. The module includes analytical, strategic as well as financial aspects of successful business planning. The module allows the students to get a thorough understanding of the challenges in Entrepreneurship and Business Planning by combining strategic and analytical approaches, and the creation of financial models for a business.
